Quality Control Inspector

SUMMARY

Perform visual and dimensional quality inspections to ensure consistent quality of production with a primary emphasis on safety. Ensure adherence to codes (ASME B31.3 and API 1104), NDE, welding and inspection processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs visual and dimensional inspections on meter run fittings and honing.
  • Ensures compliance to the Quality Management System Procedures, codes, standards customer specifications and work instructions.
  • Responsible for determining component acceptance.
  • Supports and ensures compliance with all OSHA and HSE policies throughout the fabrication divisions.
  • Interfaces with shop personnel.
  • Keeps Quality Control Lead advised of approaching inspection witness and hold points.
  • Ensures timely inspections are performed.
  • Provides project status reports.
  • Attends project meetings as required.
  • Ensures stoppage of nonconforming work and unsafe work practices.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree or higher preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Five years of experience as a Quality Inspector in a fabrication facility.
  • Minimum five years of experience in fabrication of meter runs or equivalent experience.
  • General knowledge of various codes, NDT techniques, welding, fabrication and inspection processes.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) experience.
  • Must be able to comprehend technical information both verbal and written.
  • Must have clear verbal and writing skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.

The physical demands for this position require sitting/standing for long periods of time.  Frequent need for the following:

  • Standing, Walking, Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Climbing; use of hands to grasp materials; reach with hands and arms; regularly speak, hear and use vision abilities; lift or carry up to 50 (fifty) pounds or more.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation(s) may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Working condition is shop/yard environment, exposure to possible shop hazards including but not limited to welding fumes, heat, flash burns, skin burns, high noise level and eye injuries from welding arc and grinders, as well as industrial machinery, mobile equipment traffic and varying weather conditions.
  • Extended periods of standing and/or walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and heavy lifting, pushing and pulling.
